Hello friends & family! We are very excited to announce that we will be joining Medical Missions for Children (MMFC) on a medical mission trip to Quito, Ecuador this October!!!
Jillian Rocca, Morgan Bonura, Karishma Vyas & Katie DiBenedetto all work together as Registered Nurses in the Operating Room at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. The 4 of us are very fortunate to be able to go on this trip of a lifetime & put our surgical skills to good use. For 1 whole week we will be using our own vacation time to help MMFC perform cleft lip & palate surgery on deserving children in Quito, Ecuador. More than 170,000 children are born with cleft lip & palate deformities each year. $300 pays for 1 cleft surgery!
MMFC is a nonprofit organization that for 25 years has brought medical volunteers all around the world to help underprivelaged populations. Today MMFC has operated on over 27,000 children! MMFC provides its surgeries free of charge to children who would otherwise never have access to this care. In addition to the surgeries, MMFC also shares their knowledge & skills to the local doctors/medical team.
With your help we will be able to continue MMFC's mission of bringing smiles to the faces of young children around the world!
