Distribute RESIST! Across Iowa
Donation protected
RESIST! magazine, an all-woman print collection of comics and illustrations, is coming to Iowa this January. The magazine collected submissions on the theme of NOT OUR PRESIDENT and lined up distributors across the country. It is edited by Françoise Mouly, art editor of The New Yorker, and writer Nadja Spiegelman.
We will receive a pallet of 5,000 copies by January 21. The money raised here goes to RESIST! for printing costs and to support distribution and shipping costs to captains in farflung parts of the midwest. We're getting copies out to DSM, Ames, Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, Grinnell, Council Bluffs, and even Omaha and Bemidji, MN.
RESIST! has collected a magnitude of submissions from artists around the world. It has wonderful multi-panel comics and elegant, wordless illustrations. RESIST! is a perfect example of what art can do to fuel political discussion and dissent, and to strengthen community.
I'm an artist and organizer in Iowa. I run Market Day -- an 8-year-old indie craft fair -- and Community Supported Art in Des Moines. I feel so excited to have the opportunity to bring a high-quality, important publication full of art to thousands of Iowans who will get it totally free. Thank you for help in defraying the costs of this project.
