In November 2016, Quinton slipped on the ice, and what we thought was just a strained muscle was diagnosed as a tumor in his upper leg. We learned that it was a rare cancer called Epitheliod Sarcoma .

Quinton was only 19 yrs old and had just graduated. He has so many hopes and dreams, one of which was to turn his All Star baseball success into a career playing for the West Michigan Whitecaps.

Now just one year later, he has been through 3 rounds of the strongest chemo his body can handle at University of Michigan Medical Center. This took a huge toll on his health and wasn’t having the results that were hoped for, so his team of doctors decided to try a trial study of chemo treatment. When that did not work, they tried another experimental form of cancer therapy. Meanwhile Quinton’s tumor kept spreading and becoming more and more painful. A surgeon at U of M decided he would try to remove the main sources of Quinton’s pain by removing a baseball-size tumor and lymph nodes in his groin area, and a mini basketball size tumor in his upper leg area.

After removal, the surgeon intended to perform a procedure called ILI- Isolated Limb Infusion Chemotherapy. Quinton went into surgery Dec.11, 2017, but when the surgeon was removing the tumors he found that the cancer had spread up into Quinton’s lower back by his spine and around major arteries, so the ILI was not able to be done.

After 6 weeks of recovery, Quinton's team of doctors planned to start radiation on January 3, 2018. His recovery is currently hindered by an infection that is delaying the healing process needed to continue urgent treatment.

This cancer is very aggressive and seems to be unaffected by any types of treatments so far.  We have been doing alot of research and looking into alternative (natural) treatments, and in the process we found a place called Hope4Cancer Institute in Mexico.

We really feel this should be the next step for Quinton’s healing. As quickly as his tumor is trying to take over his body, we don’t feel we can wait any longer. Because this institute uses holistic/alternative treatments rather than conventional medicine, none of it is covered by insurance. There is an excellent track record of patients who had only a few days to live who were treated successfully at Hope4Cancer, but in order to get Quinton there, we need your help to pay for Quinton's urgent treatment.

The entire treatment plan that has been customized for Quinton by Hope4Cancer will cost $45,000, plus travel. We do not have much time left to get him the help he needs. This type of cancer is extremely aggressive, and with the chemo and typical insurance-covered treatments he has endured so far, the recovery prognosis is very low.

Note from Quinton's mom, Candi: As the mother of this once All-Star athlete and heart-of-gold son, brother, uncle, grandson and recently new husband-to-be, I am asking for any help that my friends and family and anyone willing to help could give towards Quinton’s treatment.

Quinton’s family has a strong faith in God and hundreds of prayer warriors are praying daily for his healing.

Quinton has a strong desire to live a full and active life. This Christmas he proposed to his high school sweetheart, Alyssa Pego.

If we can all give something, we can get Quinton the treatment he needs to beat this cancer!
