Queso's "speedy gonzalez" recovery

Donation protected

Hola...  My name is Queso and I am a 5 year old black pug.  I am a very curious little guy and found a way to escape from my back yard on Friday night, October 10, 2014.  There is a restaurant near my house that had a band playing and I just wanted to listen for a bit.  Since I am normally a very spoiled inside dog, I am not used to crossing any streets alone and that didn't go very well for me.  I don't really remember a whole lot about what happened but I was apparently dropped off right in front of my house and, thank goodness, my mom found me very soon after.  I had lost a lot of blood and was in quite a bit of shock.  I was rushed to the LSU vet clinic where they were able to stabilize me and give me meds to at least keep me comfortable so that I could be examined by the surgeons on Saturday.  As you can see from my photo, I am in pretty bad shape but I really wish they would have given me purple and gold bandages... especially after hearing from my moms that LSU beat Florida, in the  swamp, with a 50 yard field goal!!!!!  I can't wait until my legs are healed and as strong as that kicker's!!!  Here's the catch though, and the reason for this page.  My surgery, alone, will cost at least $7,000 to $10,000. I will need my bandages changed every single day for about a month and this will cost $50 to $75 each time.  I will be on very strict crate/kennel rest for at least 3 months after the surgery and will require a lot of very special care and attention.  I will have something called external fixations on both of my back limbs and will certainly not be able to make it through any metal detectors.  The good news is that I am in the very best hands possible and they are expecting that I will make a full recovery with just a bit of arthritis in one leg and some stiffness in the other.  But, I will still be able to run, jump and even, hopefully, kick that field goal one day!  I have a very hard and lengthy journey ahead and am asking for you to send any positive thoughts, prayers and any spare change my way!  I, unfortunately, won't be able to work during my recovery so will not be able to help my family out with my medical bills.  Thanks so much for listening to my story.  I hope you will continue to follow my recovery!
