What's up family! My name is April Scott. I have been an artist most of my life, and I express myself through creating and teaching visual arts, spinning vinyl records, and paying it forward. As an artist, my goal is contribute to our community by celebrating our culture.
I founded Artist + The DJ Collective in 2013 to create a platform for other women of color to be successful and involved in their communities. It's extremely important to support these amazing people in business, art and education. By creating and curating platforms for these people to be seen and heard, we are all giving back to the planet while creating cultural nourishment for the community and the future.
This platform has provided and amazing opportunity to work with The Boom Bap Kids and develop a show on their network called QUEENS BLOCK. Showcasing all women DJs, Emcees, entertainers, artists, educators, community leaders + more.
QUEENS BLOCK is filmed live from The Boom Bap Kids studio every 1st Sunday at 5pm in Santa Ana, CA. We just recently finished our 7th episode in May. This July, the studio will be closed for the holiday. What better time to take the show to my second home... OAKLAND!
Money raised will be used for travel, studio/film location, paying the DJs/Artists and covid-free weekend lodging. We'll be going live on location in July. Guests TBA.
This is just the beginning family. The future is bright!
