Barrio Pozas Llanada in Ciales, Puerto Rico was heavily hit by the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Many families in this remote village consist of small children and breastfeeding mothers. While they are working very hard to rebuild, they need help, and what they need most right now is potable water. Currently access to potable water in the Island is very restricted. The good news is, this particular area is near a river, so water is accessible, HOWEVER they are in desperate need of the tools to make it drinkable. Every day more and more small children are getting sick due to lack of clean drinking water. Mothers are being forced to stop breastfeeding as a result of not only contracting water born illnesses themselves but for fear that they could pass along these life threatening illnesses to their infants.
This is unacceptable and we are committed to helping this community of mothers and children.
Together with Jamie Grumet, The Pump Station & Nurtury has found an incredibly cost effective way to provide water filtration systems to those living in the area. For a mere $1 we can help provide 1 person with UNLIMITED potable water.
Think about that. This means for $5 we can help a family of 5 have access to UNLIMITED clean drinking water.
For $100 we can help 100 people do the same.
In order to get these water filtration systems directly to those in need, Jamie will be traveling to the area to distribute and teach these family rich communities how to use their new filtration systems. She will be volunteering her time with a local attachment parenting mother who is part of the breastfeeding, baby wearing community and also a teacher in the area.
Hotel Rooms and transportation while in the area, and most all other volunteer expenses have already been covered, so this means that practically every dollar you donate is going to directly benefit those who need it most. The only additional costs are roundtrip airfaire, and the $200 it will takes to ship the filtration systems to the area.
Please help us help our fellow breastfeeding moms and their community members. This is time sensitive as we would like to order the filtration systems within the next 72 hours. We can accomplish SO MUCH for such little cost. If we meet our goal of $5000 we can potentially help 5000 people have access to clean drinking water. AND If we surpass our goal, we can even start reaching out to nearby communities in need of these same services as well.
