Project Playground

It’s playtime.

For the past seven years, the women of Badin Hall of the University of Notre Dame have raised money for Hope for Nepal, a "dynamic, all volunteer charitable organization devoted to bringing HOPE through education to the poorest children of Nepal." Hope has a history of producing fair trade goods, providing jobs for mothers and opportunities for education for children in remote regions of Nepal. Hope for Nepal has successfully brought the gift of education to so many impoverished children in the nation.

These children are now in school. These children are also typically working to help support their families.

Now it is time for these children to play. As Mr. Rogers said, play is the work of childhood. 

A preschool in rural Nepal needs a playground, so we are going to build it! Our mission is to bring a little joy and true child’s work (play) into the lives of students in a Nepali government school, which educates the poorest caste of children in the country, many of whom were previously indentured servants.

Last summer the founder of Hope for Nepal, Ann-Marie Conrado, and a design student from another college, built a playground in a different Nepali town. The positive results it left on the children and community were astounding. They made connections with builders and suppliers who we will now work with this year when two Notre Dame students and Badin Hall Bullfrogs go design and build another playground in Nepal!

We ask that you consider donating to our cause in order to make Badin Hall’s hope for Nepal a reality. Your generosity will help us pay to level the land for the playground, purchase and transport materials, and construct the playground.
