Project Namibia 16

Welcome back! This is a refreshed version for the new adventure.  Myself and colleague Jackie Robbins are again raising money to supplement the costs for childcare students to volunteer in a rural Namibian school and to promote the well being of wild desert adapted elephants!

October 2016  students from SRC wild camping for 14 nights without regular comforts of running water, electricity, mobile phones or internet.
A 5 hour drive away from modern ways of living they will sleep under the star filled Namibian sky on bed rolls. They will cook by camp fire, learn about "bush busines"  and work beneath a hot, african sun to help make school a safe place to learn and grow for the local children. We made a short film of our experiences and it is available on request ( too big for on here) The aim this year is to renovate one of the dorms and work with the children and teachers promoting mutual respect for each other, the desert adapted elephants and the shared earth we live on.

The team of students aiming to come on this trip also live in an area where there is a lot of social deprivation. Not on the same scale as this region in Namibia but it is a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity for many.
Some of them are totally on their own in raising funds.

The students will learn about culture and share teaching and learning ways across the divide. This experience will not only enrich the lives of my students it will change their lives. Their whole perception of what it means to live a simple yet poor life will most certainly challenge what they currently perceive.  ...week 2 of this trip is to monitor the local desert elephant herds. EHRA  help reduce the conflict between human and elephant by creating water holes for elephants and walls to help protect farmers from having their valuable water taken by the elephants.
At SRC We want our students to experience the best things that life has to offer. ..a free spirit, a full heart, a sense of the real source of happiness and what life truly is all about. Please help in any way you can. I will update everyone of our progress and you will also be able to view the film we make while on this one in a lifetime experience. Thank you.
