Science education for underprivileged children

The fundraiser aims to improve the quality and accessibility of science education for economically underprivileged children in rural India.
There are two fundamental issues in rural India when it comes to science education for children between the age group of 11 to 14 years (6th to 8th Grade or middle school as it is called):
- Poor learning outcomes where many children are not able to grasp the subject. According to a survey, 6/10 children in Grade 9 cannot answer Grade 6 science questions.
- Due to a lack of understanding of the subject, girl children tend not to choose science for their higher studies (post-grade 10). Currently, only 10% of girls opt for science after 10th grade.
To address the above two issues, we are partnering Sampark Foundation (https://www.samparkfoundation.org/), a non-profit organization in India working in the space of education. Sampark Foundation, founded by Anupama and Vineet Nayar ( Former CEO of HCL Technologies) believes that frugal innovation and relentless execution in partnership with the government can drive large-scale change. To reach our goal, we will leverage Sampark’s latest Ed tech innovation, Sampark TV to transform government school classrooms into smart classrooms. The Sampark TV is a plug-and-play device that converts any television into an interactive science learning platform, featuring videos, animated content, quizzes, and worksheets. It can drive learning outcomes by following the correct sequence of Learn, Play, Practice, Earn & Celebrate and provide students with an in-depth and rich learning experience - thereby enabling students to understand science concepts better.

The money raised through this fundraiser will be used for the following:
- To deploy Sampark TV in selected schools in India
- To train teachers to be able to use this innovation.
Through this fundraiser, we aim to raise Euros 30,000. This amount will help us reach 27,000 middle school (6th to 8th Grade) students across 480 schools in the next academic year.
Our long-term goal (over three years) is:
- To improve the learning outcomes w.r.t Science by at least 30%
- To double the % of girl children who opts for science after 10th grade.
