On the 21st July 2010 a little angel was born. Seemingly healthy, Princess went through life being cheeky and a little madam! On the 11th March 2014 Princess was sent home from school unwell, her Grandma Debbie picked her up and she was very poorly. The next morning, Princess Tehyah’s Mum, Sam, phoned Debbie as she thought Princess had suffered a stroke. Debbie didn’t think this was possible as Princess was only 3. She went to Sam’s and Princess looked like she had suffered a stroke so she was rushed to a & e at Oldham Royal. They checked her and said it looked like Bell’s palsy and sent her home with a course of steroids. After 4 days Princess became so sick that her family took her straight to a & e again. She was monitored and she spent a few weeks in Oldham Royal. During this time, a consultant came to see her while she was asleep and said there was nothing wrong with her. A few days later they took her for a scan and said they couldn’t see anything and they didn’t feel they needed to put the dye in to get a clearer picture. Soon after that they got the ambulance to transfer Princess to Manchester Children’s Hospital. Here, they did a full MRI scan that revealed that Princess had suffered multiple strokes which had damaged her brain. The family were told that Princess needed an operation or she would die, but even with the operation she still could die. The hospital was baffled by what was happening and so needed to contact surgeons all over the world to give Princess a chance. Eventually, the family were told that the blood vessels were not all attached to her brain and that the arteries in the back of her neck were twisted. Princess was taken to theatre on the 11th April 2014 were she went through ten and half hours of life saving brain surgery. Princess woke from this surgery asking for water she was then transferred to a different ward where she was able to eat, laugh and talk. Eight days later, Princess got really sick and consultants came to see her and said everything was ok. By 5pm that same day, Princess was taken for another scan which showed brain swelling and fluid on the brain. That night, Princess was rushed to theatre to have a drain put in her brain. Three hours later, Princess was rushed back to theatre as fluid was building up so much were she had part of her skull removed to allow for swelling. She was then taken into intensive care and put into an induced coma and on a ventilator for weeks. During this time, the family were told that Princess had about 12 hours to live so they Baptised her. The day after, Princess was still fighting. Slowly, she was brought out of the coma and was breathing on her own. Whilst in intensive care, Princess was given 3 lots of antibiotics during the same day. The first one gave her an anaphylactic shock damaging more of her brain, then she was given the same antibiotic another 2 times causing the same and also extensive brain damage. The family were told that Princess would have no quality of life. On 26th June 2014, Princess was given 2 weeks to live and her family took her home. On 21st July 2014, Princess celebrated her 4th Birthday! She is still here almost a year later and now communicates by smiling and laughing and makes sounds when you talk to her and to let you know she’s there. She is indeed a Princess. princess is now 7 years old and is so strong and determined to be with us and we will do everything in our power to keep princess in our lives to love, care for and cherrish xxxxxxxxxx
