Many of you know about Lexi's condition and have been so faithfully praying and encouraging the family. For those who are just joining this amazing support circle, two days after her 12th birthday, Doctors discovered a tumor on Lexi's brain. In Friday, June 20, the tumor was removed by incredibly skilled doctors and tests concluded the tumor was benign. At this point, the doctors are certain Lexi lost hearing in her right ear but prayers were answered. Lexi is still in ICU and on the long road to recovery. What you may not know, is Kim had resigned from her job the week before so they could move to Kansas City to care for her mom who is going through radiation treatment for her second battle with cancer as well as her dad who is in full time care for MS. Her husband moved all their belongings to Kansas City the week before to start his job so he is unable to be here with them. Money is tight on one income. They also have a 7 month old baby that Kim will need to continue to send to daycare so she can be at the hospital with Lexi during the day. The doctors haven't given them any information on recovery time or how long they expect her to be in the hospital. Living on one income was intended to be very temporary. Without a timeline for recovery, it is very challenging to estimate when Kim will be able to return to work. Finding a job that will be flexible with the extensive amount of time off for the hospital stay and doctors visits. We all know, the bills don't go away. You have all been so kind, asking many times what can be done to help. Many people asked where they can donate. We had to convince Kim to set this fundraising account up so she can focus on Lexi and not stress about paying daycare. We were very surprised at how many other expenses quickly add up. Eating food from the hospital cafeteria is very expensive. Then there's gas to drive to and from the hospital at least once per day. The price to park at the hospital to stay with your ill child us $10 per day!!! That's $70 per week! So, even if you only donate $10, you are helping a mother sit beside her child's hospital bed for a day. That is more healing than all the medicine in the world. Please do not feel obligated to give. The purpose of this account is for those people that have been so desperately wanting to help. If giving financially is not possible and you still want to help, I'm posting a list on the "Pray for Lex #prayforlex" Facebook page of other areas Kim and Lexi may need help. We are humbled by the love and support you have all poured out to this amazing young girl and her family. Sincerely, Bridgette Gedminas (Lexi's Mom's Close Friend, Lexi's Auntie B) [email redacted]
