Prayers for Papaw

'Prayers for Papaw' is working to raise money to help a remarkable family. Larry Bennett (aka:Papaw) is the epitome of what a Dad/Grandfather should be. Strong, hardworking, full of love, energetic, caring, selfless, humorous, wise, & a modern day "Macgyver"(the man can fix ANYTHING!). But in August of 2013, Larry was diagnosed with CLL (Chronic lymphocytic leukemia). They knew they had a tough journey ahead, but with Larry being "tough as nails", we all had high expectations. Shortly after the diagnosis, Larry's cancer began progressing rapidly and began to mutate into a much more aggressive beast. He has been fighting it head on with everything from home remedies, medications, and a very strict diet, to aggressive chemotherapy, and blood/platelet transfusions. The doctors are predicting only "months left", saying it is rare for someone to go into remission in his condition, but we think he is tough enough to be one of the strong, lucky few.

Larry's equally phenomenal wife, Connie, has been fighting just as hard to provide for their family and take care of him, providing income, managing his new specific dietary needs, administering proper medication, providing transportation and support during the seemingly endless Dr.'s appointments, along with a daily "to do" list longer than the average human can probably even fathom- trying to manage their family mini-farm, all while postponing her own medical needs to ensure the love of her life is receiving the care and attention he needs and deserves. She has always been a "giver" and will give to anyone even when she has nothing left to give. She has been working tirelessly to send her grand-daughter to college as well as helping to support her eldest daughter who suffered her own tragedy in 2009. She is the very definition of generosity, giving to both her church and members of the community, helping anyone and everyone she can.

The family just received more devastating news when they were all affected by the recent government shutdown. Not only would Larry and Connie be out of work, but 3 of their children would be as well. They will also cease to receive any support from social security as of this month.Treatments have only begun and the first bills tallied over $40,000 and insurance is not expected to cover as much as one would hope.

Neither one of them would ever ask for help, thats why we're asking for them. They have "turned it over to God", and we're hoping that through God and community- we can raise enough money to help make this family's life a bit easier and help give back to them for all the good they have done for others. If you are unable to donate monetarily, please say a prayer for Larry's healing. He has a lot more dancing to do with his grand-babies.


Our goal is $10,000 but we would love to exceed that. Please help spread the word to anyone and everyone so we can help this more than deserving family.
