Peyton (Pey Pey) Martin, 6 years old is one of eight children of Angie’s and her husband Greg’s, ranging from ages 4 to 24. Angie’s oldest son, Gregory, is special needs.

Peyton was diagnosed Nov. 14 with a terminal, inoperable brain tumor—DIPG—and given six months to a year to live, after her mom began to notice that she would veer off to the right when she walked. Her teachers also noticed Peyton's handwriting had gotten shaky. Her mom said she thought it was an eyesight problem and took Peyton to her optometrist who said her vision was 20/20 and recommended she see a neurologist here in Kokomo. Concerned she made an appointment with their pediatrician right away and after he started with a couple dexterity tests, he sent the family to get an MRI as soon as possible, which happened to be the next morning at IU North in Carmel. Before the MRI was even complete the technicians saw a large amount of fluid on Peyton’s brain and then follow a large tumor on her brain stem. They family was instructed to take Peyton to Riley’s Children’s Hospital and she was rushed in for surgery to insert a Shunt to drain the fluid. The family was then told that the tumor was inoperable and even considering a biopsy would render Peyton permanently unconscious.

After a long stay at Riley’s Children’s Hospital, Peyton was scheduled for six weeks of radiation treatments and chemotherapy. The family made the decision to take Peyton home to be around her siblings because she was more respondent in their presence, this decision required the family to travel daily to Indianapolis for treatments, a roundtrip drive of 120 miles from Kokomo, to the IU Proton Therapy Center, were Dr. Buchsbaum and his staff over saw her radiation and Chemo treatments. Just in this short time the family has medical bills are near $100,000. Peyton has also had to have a pick line inserted in her arm and a G-tube.

Pey Pey is a brave, sassy full of joy little girl, her favorite color is Purple. She has just started a 10 month round of stronger dosage of chemotherapy treatment. Pey Pey said she’s waiting for more of her hair to fall out so she can get a purple Mohawk like Kelly Osborn’s. Please help raise money for Pey Pey,  Wherever you can donate will be much appreciated, $5, $10 $15, $20. Any donation will help.
