Pray for Ross and Meredith

Andrew and Jessica Davis sometimes joke that they only have one thing in common—they both like orange juice with a lot of pulp. Little did they know they were also both carriers for an extremely rare and deadly genetic disorder, and despite the one-in-four odds, passed it on to their son Ross.

"We called Ross our miracle child from day one, and I have no doubt that Ross is part of God's perfect plan. This child has already touched more lives than I could have thought possible," remarked Andrew in a Facebook post the day after 6-year-old Ross's diagnosis of Sanfilippo Syndrome, an incurable neurological condition that more often than not leads to irreversible brain damage and death in the teenage years.



"From day one we hit the floor running, enjoying life, enjoying him, without any inclination what we would be facing. There's no guarantee how long a life he will live but early teens would be a blessing. That being said, I CAN guarantee you he has and will have lived a full life by then."

Andrew continued, "Yes there is heartache, yes there is pain, but there is no need to feel sorry for us. I feel sorry for those who do not get the opportunity to get the most out of life. I hear people all the time talking about how fast time goes by, and wishing they had done more with their kids while they were still young or even still alive. We go 'all-in' most every day we physically can, and this will not stop. If there's one request that I could make, it would be for you to spend more time with your own kids. Don't seek 'quality-time', seek 'quantity-time' and the quality will be there."



A group of family, friends and total strangers are determined to partner with the young couple to put a smile on young Ross's face for as long as his condition will allow. This GoFundMe page was established by the couple's close friends to facilitate that goal. A bank account — Ross' Fund — has also been established at the Capital City Bank in Port St. Joe, Florida.
