Angela's Story: Angela was admitted to San Antonio's Community Hospital (Upland, CA) on February 3rd, 2014.  Doctors initially determined she was suffering from pneumonia, and quickly developed ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome). She was been intubated, sedated, undergone a tracheostomy among other surgeries and numerous blood transfusions.  On Saturday, March 15th, she went into cardiac arrest, and luckily the medical staff was able to revive her.  She then went onto life support.  Her condition changed from day to day, one step forward, two steps back.  She was hooked up to an ECMO machine as her lungs were not strong enough to support her on their own.  She was  in the hospital for almost 3 months, and fought fiercely for her life.   The doctors and staff made every attempt possible to stabilize and treat Angela with the latest technology and still had limited success.  On Tuesday, April 1st, Angela was transferred to Cedars Sinai Hospital to be further treated and monitored.   She underwent more procedures, and on April 13th, she passed away after going into cardiac arrest again.

If Angela ever stabilized, she would have undergone long-term acute care which would have taken years of rehab.  She would have had to learn how to walk, talk, and adapt to a vastly different lifestyle once she began to recover.

We set our goal at $50,000 as a mere estimate of what the hospital bill will be after insurance is settled. The funds raised will go towards her hospital bill.

ANY donation amount is greatly appreciated.  On behalf of the Maylad and Elpidama families, thank you in advance for your help, support, and continued prayers.  Please share this page with as many people as possible.  As her family, we do not know all of Angela's contacts.
For those of you who do not know Angela personally, she was a 35-year-old mother of 3 young daughters, a devoted wife, and an incredible woman.  She was a makeup and accessories addict, and had a strong affinity for gourmet cupcakes and tattoo art. She had a strong personality, was born a fighter, and fought til the end.
For a better sense of what she was like before this all happened, check out her YouTube videos and Instragram account.
