Head Trip: Help fix our Corolla
Donation protected
As we are just coming off of Kairos #83 at Union Correctional and heading into Florida State Prison West Unit #22 on October 12-15, I feel compelled to share a need with those of you who support the work we are doing both behind and beyond the bars.
Being a privately funded ministry part of our mission is to raise our own support for the work we do.
Transportation needs are fundamental for this work as we serve 8 Correctional Facilities in North East Florida ministering to over 200 men a week. Providing discipleship, mentoring, communication and leadership development training resulting in greater employability upon release.
Which brings me to the need. In July one of our volunteers was heading to The Rising Stars Toastmasters at Baker Correctional when smoke started blowing through the vents in the cabin of our 2006 Toyota Corolla. As Frances, the boys and I were in Columbia South Carolina, there was little we could do but call and have the vehicle towed until we returned.
I spent two months in my "spare time" along with a mechanic friend of mine trying to troubleshoot the issue. Finally last week I took the car to one of our fellow Kairos brothers shop. Mark Hensley diagnosed the problem as having a blown head. The cost of the repair plus what I have already in the other issues to be repaired are $2200. The car was donated to us and only has 154,000 miles, which is not a lot for a 2006 Toyota Corolla, at least we have no debt on it other than the $2500.00 A.C. repairs on that and the Prius last August.
We do now wish to incur any debt and the gas mileage for this car is better than driving the van 100+ miles round trip each day.
Mark"s C.A.R. Repair has the car now and will begin repair this week. Thank you for prayerfully considering how you can assist us in getting back on the road again. We thank God for all that He continues to do in and through you as we serve our Savior both behind and beyond the bars.
You can donate through our GoFundme Campaign or
If you prefer to send a check payable to Faith For Freedom
