Paige has been accepted as a patient to Mayo Clinic, her and her family need our help covering the cost involved with travel and other related expenses.
Paige was first diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 7 and has been dealing with additional Autoimmune Disease symptoms for years. These symptoms have become completely debilitating and she must rely solely on her parents, Brian and Jane, for care. Presently, due to worsening respiratory complications and a sharp decrease in her mobility, she has been accepted as a patient to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and is already under their care. While this is fantastic news for Paige and her recovery the cost of travel and loss of work time for Brian and his wife Jane will be significant. The purpose of this fundraiser is to off-set all costs associated with Paige’s treatment and recovery.
A brief history;
At only 7 years old Paige was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and has dealt with the associated challenges ever since. Shortly after graduating high school in 2012 Paige started having other autoimmune symptoms and these symptoms reached a peak in January, 2018.
Paige has been diagnosed with Relapsing Polychondritis and Sjogren's Syndrome . Her own immune system has attacked the cartilage in her nose and the collagen in her eyes. She also has painful inflammation in her tear and salivary glands. She has undergone painful laser treatments for her eyes and has more treatments scheduled. These diagnoses are secondary to an overlying, as of yet, un-diagnosed autoimmune disease. She has had adverse reactions to her current medications. Her condition is worsening daily and she is having trouble breathing and walking. Her symptoms are severe enough that she has been accepted as a patient of the Mayo Clinic.
