In celebration of Martin Luther King day and the legacy of my Grandmother, Dorothy A. Holmes, you are invited to attend or participate in a virtual poetry slam event. All writing abilities are welcome to take part, and both young & older audiences are encouraged to attend. Participants and attendees are asked to contribute a small minimal donation. Donations will go towards a small cash prize for the winner and to the local food bank.
HOW TO WRITE POETRY: Original works are preferred but non-original readings are welcome. Pay attention to time. Each poet will have 4 minutes to perform. While practicing your poem, time yourself to make sure you do not go over the time limit (poets lose points for going over 30 or more seconds!). Bring your passion! Limited seating remains for poetry readings and audience seating is plentiful:

This event is in honor of the legacy of Dorothy Alves Holmes, a poet who loved to sing and worked actively with youth throughout her life to encourage them to embrace their artistic abilities!
