On Dec. 5th our mother, Michelle, father, Frank, and Aunt Barbara were in a terrible car accident. Just a few minutes from their home they were hit head on by another driver. Barbara sustained a shattered pelvis, broken ribs, and broke both of her legs as well as quite a few cuts and bruises. Although she has a few surgeries and months (if not years) of physical therapy ahead of her, we expect her to make a full recovery. She is awake and fully alert. We are able to have conversations with her and have even gotten a few laughs.
The news that comes next broke all of our hearts. Our dad, Frank, did not survive the accident. Those of you who knew him know we lost one of the kindest, gentlest souls on this earth. We are better people from having know him. We are devasted not having him here with us but with strength from family and friends we are getting through this.
Now we put all of our energy towards staying strong for our mother, Michelle. Sitting in the passenger seat she sustained life threatening injuries. After being rushed to the hospital, she recieved surgery to stop some internal bleeding and manage a minor head injury. She has been in the ICU ever since. It has been an extremely hard couple of days for her. Michelle is still not very coherent being under a sedation medicine as well as pain medication. Initially she was able to mouth a few words but having a cracked strenum and developing pneumonia the doctors have put her on a ventilator to assist with breathing and remove any liquid in the lungs. Once she is more alert and stable, they will need to operate on her broken ankle. Although we do not have any kind of timeline right now, the hospital staff seems confident that she will make a full recovery. It will be a long, long journey but she has so much love radiating towards her. We will keep everyone updated on how she is doing.
While Michelle has been in the hospital, it seems the entire state of CO has banded together to help care for her house and family. It is a true testament to the love and bond Michelle and Frank shared with the people around them. While some of their children are now adults, we put most of our focus on their daughters Franqui,14, and Alyssa, 13, and their sons Christian, 6, and Isaac, 5. Going through such loss during a time of year so focused on family is very hard for them. We plan to still have festivities but our hearts will be heavy.
We have had so many people outpouring their love and wanting to send gifts, food and any needed support, which led us to creating this page. When our mother gets out of the hospital, we as a family will need all the support we can get. Unfortunately, the financial responsibilities of life must go on and utilities, mortgage, insurance and hospital bills must be paid. The kids must have food, clothes, Christmas, and birthdays (Christian's is Dec. 14th). At this point anything helps and every kind word is greatly appreciated. We are overwhelmed by all of the love we are receiving and we send our love back to you.

Anyone who who would like to send the kids Christmas presents please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Thank you so much for your love, support, and kind words.
