As some of you may or may not know, my father went into the ER on February 2, 2016 with complaints of flu-like symptoms but was rushed to Tampa General Hospital shortly after. He was taken to Tampa General for 2 Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, that needed emergency surgery for repair. Once he was out of surgery we assumed the worst was behind us, but we were wrong. Exactly one week from his first surgery we were told he would be having another surgery because there was a leak between the 2 stents that were first placed.

On February 9, 2016 he had his second surgery. Once again, we assumed the worst was behind us. The first 2 days after surgery he was doing fine. On the 3rd day I received a call from one of his surgeons, advising me that my father had lost all feeling and movement of his lower extremities. At that time we were told by doctors that there was a chance he would regain feeling and movement. Later that same day he regained sensation, but as of today is unable to move his lower half. The doctors have told us the longer he went without moving, the more likely his condition would remain permanent. Unfortunately, his paralyisis was just one of the risks of his life saving surgery.

He has been in a Rehabilitation Facility for almost a month, where he is making great progress. He is learning how to continue living his life in a whole new way. But on April 6, 2016 he will have to leave the Rehab facility. Before he can be comfortable at home, there are renovations that need to take place. His home needs to be Wheelchair Accessible. We simply do not have the funds to provide that for him. His sister, Noemi, has been working hard calling different places looking for a resolution, but has had no luck. As you could imagine, being hospitalized for 2 months is not easy. He has been forced into an early retirement and is currently receiving little to no income.

To those of you that know my dad, you know just how special of a person he his. He is not only my guiding light, but is that for his grand-babies and for many of his siblings, nieces, and nephews. After all he has overcome, he has still kept his one of kind charm and awesome sense of humor.

Thank you to everyone that has been concerned for my father and I. Thank you in advance, to those that are able to help us in this time of need. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. I look forward to updating you guys as we progress!
