Hello Everyone,
On June 22th, Lindsay had visited the ER after having difficulty breathing and being in extreme pain. It took 3 ER visits, and herself persistantly advocating for her health before doctors could figure out a diagnosis. After multiple labs, CT scans, ultrasounds, MRI of her brain, and a spinal tap, they found out she had Menengitis. Menengitis is inflammation of the meninges caused by viral or bacterial infection and marked by intense headache and fever, sensitivity to light, and muscular rigidity, leading (in severe cases) to convulsions, delirium, and death. Lindsay's brain and spinal cord began to swell, and her infection continued to intensify leading her to have a long hospital stay where they managed her symptoms as the virus took its course.
While she was in the hospital, her son began to have high temperatures, became very lethargic, and unable to eat or sleep. Her fiance had to take off work to care for their son and visit her while she was in the hospital. Their son, Elijah, had multiple visits to his primary care doctor, the ENT doctor, and to the ER. The doctors presumed that he was infected with the same virus, but fortunately did not lead to menengitis, which was his parents worse fear for their 11 month old.
Everyone is now on the path to recovery and feeling very blessed.
However, due to Lindsay being in the hospital and their ill child, medical bills are stacking up; which the family was unprepared for. Lindsay did not have any sick time or PTO to use due to being on maternity leave this last year, and taking care of their son when he was sick. Her fiance, Walle, does not get paid when he has to take days off work.
The medical bills are rolling in, and in order to continue to receive treatment, they have to make a dent in paying their medical bills. They have exhausted all resources available and they are asking for some help. Please help them raise some money for these medical bills so they can continue to heal and receive medical care.
