Leslie and I are reaching out to ask for your help. Without our community helping one of our own this family of 5 will have no money for food, monthly bills and will most likely lose their home. We can not let this happen.
Two years ago Leslie and I had the amazing good fortune to meet Lupe Romero, when a friend recommended him for a sheet rock project at our farm in Portland, Tennessee. Since that chance meeting two years ago, Lupe, his wife, and kids have become part of our family.
Lupe is an absolute delight and one of the hardest working men I have ever met. He came to America, as have many thousands of others, with a dream to become a US Citizen and to provide for his small family; wife Samantha and three beautiful kids Tatyana (16), Isaiah (6) and Isabella (3).
I don’t think I have ever seen anyone work as hard in my life - sometimes 2 and 3 jobs to make sure he could properly provide for his family, oftentimes working until one or two in the morning.
Eventually, he received his Social Security card, a well earned work visa, and a TN driver’s license. With these documents finally in his possession, he was well on his way to achieving his long desired American dream.
Tragically, on Tuesday evening September 12th, in the blink of an eye, his whole world came crashing down….. Literally. Lupe will be wheel chair bound and out of work for at least a year. The possibility of achieving the American Dream seems to be shattered.
