The Issues:
"The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman." - Malcolm X
For any of you online for any amount of time and happen to fall into the rancid rabbit hole of black women hate videos with Black women as the subject, you know how disgusting, vile, abusive and soul-killing they can be. You, as an actualized woman may be inured to such hateful rhetoric, but remember–young black girls live on YouTube, and are bound to discover this poison, and might not easily be able to dismiss it as the ravings of hateful maniacs.
In addition to these videos, you have popular figures who have said ridiculous sentiments publicly about Black women with little to no rebuttal. The Black Community remains silent while Black women are drowning under the sea of unfair criticism, slander, libel, and outright LIES about our character as women. We DESERVE fair and equal treatment!
Up until now, many of us have felt helpless on how to fight against it... UNTIL TODAY.
The Solution:
We started Sisters Overcoming Stigma, a nonprofit organization incorporated in Delaware (currently filing for 501(c)(3) status) that shall contribute to the aims of helping Black women defend themselves against these relentless attacks, arming them with the knowledge, and educating those around them to the negative stereotypes and stigma that affect Black women and girls.
The Mission:
To help Black women and girls overcome the defamation of their character, by securing justice, fair treatment, and help for them through education, legislation, and positive representation in the media and overall society.
We have achieved many of the goals we set out to accomplish with this campaign, including:
1. The establishment of a 501(c)(3) (IN PROGRESS) which is the most common type of US tax-exempt nonprofit organization which is exempt from federal income tax for a cause such as ours.
2. Securing dedicated legal counsel (and/or volunteers) to respond to issues affecting Black women and girls when called upon. We will be especially interested in those legal professionals well versed in cyber-bullying laws, and law involving nonprofit and/or organizational management.

Black women have the brilliant minds, connections, and resources to make things happen. There is power in numbers, and we have the spending power to make a real impact on public policy, and public opinion affecting Black women and girls. Please join us as we embark on a HISTORIC journey.
The Sisters Overcoming Stigma Inc. Board of Directors
Asia Simone is a graduate student studying Mathematics, a YouTube blogger, and an ordinary concerned citizen like you from New York City.
Christelyn Russel-Karazin is a wife & mother with B.A. in Marketing who currently lives in Southern California. She runs the online interracial dating platform Beyond Black and White.
H Paul Bryant is an attorney with his own law practice in Oakland, CA. He has served on many nonprofit boards and shares our vision of helping Black girls and women.
We along with other trusted advisors and concerned Black women and allies have come together to form this organization.
Christelyn and Asia are Black women who are victims of vicious cyberbullying, harassment, and intimidation. They want to protect other Black girls and women from the abuse they have endured.

100% of the funds raised by this campaign will be used for start-up costs and business expenses related to Sisters Overcoming Stigma, Inc.

March 31, 2017
SOS was created founded as the FIRST Anti-Defamation League founded exclusively for Black women and girls.

We started our GoFundMe campaign the very same day and raised over $1,000 in a single night because of the excitement and enthusiasm for this idea. – http://www.gofundme.com/Plan4BW
Chris and Asia began shortly after this to speak to several organizations and trusted women to gain insight, direction, and formulate the purpose of our organization.

Purchased our domain name for http://www.sistersovercoming.org and acquired a website designer for our site who is currently working on our launch.
April 21, 2017
Our founding members filed for official incorporation of our organization to establish us as a legal body. Also, our official first meeting was recorded establishing our organization for records.
April 28, 2017
We announced the name for our organization to the world, Sisters Overcoming Stereotypes, Inc. which was later changed to better fit our overall vision and focus as a group. Sisters Overcoming Stereotypes Inc. is officially incorporated in the state of Delaware to ensure perpetuity.
May 12, 2017
The official business bank account for SOS was established.
Official Bylaws of SOS were voted on and adopted for governance.
June 12, 2017
After Board approval, SOS officially filed for our name change from “Sisters Overcoming Stereotypes” to “Sisters Overcoming Stigma” with the state of Delaware.
July 21, 2017
Our Name Change was officially approved by the state of Delaware.
August 18, 2017
H Paul Bryant is Named to the Sisters Overcoming Stigma Board of Directors
October 14, 2017
A generous anonymous donor with a $322 donation helped us reach our first GoFundMe campaign goal of$10,000.
October 22, 2017
SOS held our first online Twitter event featuring the legendary Kola Boof. We used the hashtag #SOS To track our conversation and retweeted many of those responses to the @sisovercoming Twitter page.
January 1, 2018
Sisters Overcoming Stigma adopts their official logo for the organization.
