Please help this family during this very difficult time. My name is Lindsay Glover and I am the sister-in-law of Amanda Griffith (pictured above), who is Penny's youngest daughter. It's been a very difficult year for this beautiful family. Amanda and the rest of Penny's family are struggling with a lot of pain and grief. Penny passed away Monday, December 26th 2016 from her battle with cancer.
Penny was a sweet and cheerful person, with a quick wit. She was a loving daughter, a wonderful mother and she adored her grandchildren. She and Amanda shared a lot of love and laughter during her lifetime. Sadly another thing they shared was a cancer diagnosis. Shortly after experiencing the joy of the birth of her baby girl, Amanda was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It was a very difficult battle, but her mom Penny was by her side.
Many months of chemo treaments, doctor visits and sleepless nights of trying to take care of a new born baby Amanda was declared cancer free.
During all this, we received the news that her mother's cancer was back, for the third time. Cancer is many things, inexpensive is not one of them. Due to two prior bouts of cancer, including many treatments (and one brain surgery), Penny was forced to live on social security. Because of this, she was unable to procure the necessities, such as life insurance, that she needed.
Aside from struggling with her passing, the family is now reaching out for assistance to help pay for this large, unexpected expense. The money raised with this account will be used for that purpose. It will cover the funeral expenses and the additional cost to move Penny from the town she resided in, to her hometown in West Virginia. Any additional donations will be used to help cover Amanda's cancer treatments.
If Penny, her mother Barbara, or her two daughters Amanda and Stephanie, have touched your life in any way, as they have mine, or if you can understand the pain of losing a dear loved one and the difficulty that comes with that, please consider contributing to this fund. Any amount, big or small, will be a great help.
With Penny's rather unexpected passing, the family found out too late that the financial resources they needed were unavailable. There were attempts to make payment arrangements with the funeral home, but that was not possible. Unfortunately, the funds are needed as soon as possible, as Penny's celebration of life is Friday, December 30th and the expenses for that need to be taken care of within 30 days of the service.
This family has been through so much and my heart is broken for them. I'm just so grateful to all of you who took the time just to read this message and consider giving. Please keep this family in your heart and prayers.
