Jorge Acosta Foundation 2015

Donation protected
Jorge "Pelao" Acosta is a former professional soccer player hailing from Barranquilla, Colombia. At a very early age Jorge realized his passion for the sport of soccer. Growing up he would play soccer anywhere and everywhere even though he did not always have the proper equipment often playing with a ball made from rags. As a teenager he moved to the United States where he had the opportunity to play on his high school soccer team which opened the door for his future carrer. Pelao played on for Long Island University which then led him to live his dream and play professionally for teams like the Dallas Sidekicks, New York Fever, and he even was on the  US Men's National Team's World Cup '94 squad. After retiring as a player, Jorge did not forget his roots. This is what inspired the Jorge Acosta Foundation. His organization is dedicated to collecting lightly used soccer equipment and bringing it to children of his native country of Colombia. The children and the families who receive equipment from Jorge often cannot afford to buy the basic gear needed to safely play their favorite sport. By donating to this campaign, you will be helping these children stay off the streets and work on their dreams of becoming professional soccer players like Jorge. The money raised will be going towards the high shipping cost to send our ever growing collection of donated cleats, uniforms, socks, and soccer balls from the US to Colombia. Any donation large or small is greatly appreciated! If you are interested in donating any soccer gear, please email [email redacted].

Thank you for making this possible!
