For the past few days, Peetie has been at the Chicago Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center due to a very sudden illness. Tests have discovered that she has Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia. Basically, this is a disorder where her immune system is destroying her blood platelets. While this is a treatable condition, it is very costly to save her life. The treatment she has had and will need in these first few days -- including at least one blood transfusion, steroids, an antibiotic, and intravenous immunoglobulin -- will be the most crucial and costly. However, it is likely that it will save her life, and ongoing maintenance medical expenses will be minimal for the rest of her life. We know that this may seem like a small problem to some, but Peetie is our little girl, and we appreciate your help in saving her life and bringing her home to us.
If any of you have enjoyed Peetie's hospitality through the years and want to give back now in her hour of need, we would be forever in your debt. And please share this page on your own Facebook, if you can, to reach more people who may be able to love and support Jojo. We appreciate your prayers and concern.
