Some of you will already be familiar with Pedro's story from the previously successful Go Fund Me campaign. For those who are not aware, in mid-March 2017 Pedro was rushed to the emergency room vomiting blood. He was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer, treated, and released.
In early June, Pedro returned to the doctor to confirm that the ulcer had healed. Despite this positive news, Pedro began to feel discomfort in his abdomen in the following weeks. The pain continued to worsen and he ultimately went to the emergency room on Father's Day. There, it was discovered that he had a tumor in the lining of his stomach.
The tumor was classified as a stage four, malignant adenocarcinoma. Pedro began aggressive treatment consisting of chemotherapy and radiation therapy every 12 days to reduce the size of the tumor. During the initial round of treatment, the cancer metastasized and it became apparent that he would require additional months and rounds of treatment.
The aggressive nature of the treatment made it impossible for Pedro to return to a regular work schedule (although he tried!). Pedro is now in his 10th month of his battle against this cancer and the costs of treatment and living are continuing to pile up.
Anyone who knows Pedro knows that he is the first person to step up and help other people. In the years that I have known him I have consistently seen him go above and beyond. Let's pull together and show Pedro that we are here for him through this battle. Hopefully we can alleviate the financial stress associated with fighting this horrific disease.
