What is happening: Manuel has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is starting to feel the effects of his condition. He needs more medical care than the home he currently lives in can offer him. As Manuel likes to say, as his body grows weaker his spirit grows stronger, and he's "running out of gas!" His heart is wide open as always, and he is an inspiration of humility, surrender, and grace as he navigates this time of transition. Hospice is involved in his care, and they recognize that pancreatic cancer for someone of Manuel's age and condition is not treatable and is usually fairly quickly terminal.
We have, with Manuel, found a wonderful residential care home in Eureka, California called Cutten Care Home (www.cuttencarehome.com) that is a very good fit for his needs. He likes it and we like it for him. It offers warmth and beauty, including a gorgeous garden, a competent and loving family run staff, and is centrally located for the many friends and family that will be visiting Manuel. It is a beautiful place for a dignified transition into the next world.
What is needed: Manuel needs to make this move immediately. He receives $900 per month from Social Security. This is his only income, and he has no savings. He needs an extra $3000 per month to pay for the services of Cutten Care home plus other needs. It is important and relevant to note that pancreatic cancer is usually terminal within a short few months. That said, we are looking to fund this wonderful home for Manuel for as long as we are blessed to have him here.
How this works: Any funds that you send to support Manuel will be used explicitly and exclusively to pay the rent at Cutten Care Home, which is $3500 per month, or to buy Manuel needed supplies (such as nutritional supplements, etc). When he passes the accounts will close immediately. Any funds left in the accounts will be donated to Amma's charities, which are world renowned for serving the poor and needy.
With much love and gratitude, we honor the generosity of your hearts and souls.
