Patty "Grace" Crow was initially brought to the Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa on Monday, May 15, 2017 after suffering a heart attack over Mother's Day weekend. It is during this admission, that we learned Patty's kidneys were also an issue. And though she was briefly in and out of the hospital, and even was able to make it to her grandchildren's promotion ceremonies, the crippling pain she had endured in her legs was originally determined to be caused by Catastrophic Antiphospholipid Syndrome, which manifests in serious, agonizing and life-threatening blood clotting, and after an implanted filter filled with clots in a matter of days, her bleak prognosis resulted in a high-risk, lower-extremity double amputation.
However, after several admissions, lab work and specialized testing, it was just this past week determined the root cause of Patty's agonizing suffering was as a result of Pancreatic Cancer and her health was declining at break-neck speed. Today, September 12th, 2017, Patty lost her battle with cancer. She is now and finally able to rest in eternal peace.
What you may not have known is that Patty was the sole provider for her only daughter, Eliza Crow, and her children Lila (10) and Ella (12). Though Eliza is a veteran Girl Scout leader and has put on a brave face, for the better part of a decade, Eliza has battled chronic and crippling pain resulting from a long a history of fibromyalgia and thus preventing her from securing sustainable income.
Soon, Eliza will be tested for genetic prediposition to this disease. Her mother understood Eliza's plight and the Crow girls have always been there for each other.
Over the past few months, on top of everything else, the Crow family's landlord found mold in their apartment. They had to move twice in a matter of weeks in order to remediate the situation, and though that was enormously challenging, their rent was more affordable in the housing-strapped area of Sonoma County. Sadly, though, their apartment was two story, and was not suitable for providing disabled care back during the time the medical team believed Patty would recover - NO ONE KNEW UNTIL THIS MONTH IT WAS CANCER CAUSING ALL THE SUFFERING. Now that Patty has passed, Eliza is in no condition to secure sustainable employment at the moment. She is, however, has plans to enroll in a local college training program so she will have a trade that will sustain her family.
The fears are mounting and the Crow family needs your constant prayer, and they also need real help. Even a small donation would help. Their will to fly high and give back is strong. And those who know them know this challenging time will pass, but the loss will be present forever. If you're able to help in any way, your donation would offset gas, food and living expenses until such time as a more permanent solution is put in place.
