As many of you are aware, recently Pastor Bob Maddux was diagnosed with oral cancer. Many people are not aware of the costs that come along with such a diagnosis, even for someone who is well insured; additional copays, therapies that are not covered, extra gas, meals on the go, over the counter products, etc.
So many of us have been the beneficiaries of the great ministry Pastor Bob and Claudia have had over the years. Here is our chance to give back for how they have blessed us AND to invest in their future ministry. Please consider planting a seed and lightening the financial burden on these great Servants of God.

Dear friends. I have bad news and good news today. First the bad news. I’ve been diagnosed with tongue cancer that has moved to 2 lymph nodes in my throat but not spread anywhere else. The good news is that this is a “highly curable” form of cancer, I repeat, a HIGHLY CURABLE form of cancer in the doctors words caused by a virus. Both my doctors have emphasized this so that’s GOOD NEWS. It does mean though that I will be going through 7 weeks of intense radiation and chemotherapy. They say this process is extremely difficult and painful because of what it does to my throat. It’s like a massive sunburn. It means I’ll lose appetite and will probably be on pain meds at some point. The whole process to get back to “normal” will take about 4 months. So I’m asking for your prayers, not only for me but for Claudia. They’ve told us that the support person in this process faces some challenges dealing with the patient’s suffering, etc. Claudia is a wonderfully compassionate person and has always been supportive of me but this will be difficult for us both. Again, so grateful in advance for your prayers and encouragement. 10 years ago I went through this sort of thing with prostate cancer and that’s cured. So I believe with the Lord’s help and your prayers I will come through this as well.
