Colorado Mom Faces Life in a Wheelchair and Needs Your HELP !

Our family has come together to support our loving sister, daughter and mother Melissa Bree Madrill.

Twenty- one year old Melissa Bree Madrill of Colorado was critically injured in a one car rollover accident in Oklahoma. On Sunday morning , April 14, 2013 Melissa was returning to school in Houston, Texas where she was a student specializing in massage therapy for oncology patients. Melissa is passionate about this career path because she herself had lost her grandmother to cancer. Having seen the difficulties her grandmother faced, Melissa wanted to help make a difference in the life's of others. On this Sunday morning Melissa's life took a dramatic change for the worst. After her tragic rollover accident Melissa was airlifted from the crash site to the Trauma Intensive Care unit at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.

After extensive surgery to repair her fractured spine Melissa spent 27 days recovering from a broken sternum, 5 broken ribs and a collapsed lung before being transferred to Denver's Craig Hospital by Air Ambulance. Melissa spent two months at Denver's Craig Hospital slowly recovering from her near fatal injuries, but learning the skills necessary to live life in a wheelchair. Now permanently paralyzed from the waist down, she remains upbeat and focused as she adapts to her everyday challenges.

Melissa, the mother of six-year-old Gabriel who is a first grade student at Ave Maria Catholic School in Parker, is in need of a number of services before she can resume her life as a student and mother. In order for Melissa to live independently a number of significant modifications must be made to her current home, including:

· Wheel chair ramps to the front and rear exits of her home.

· A Chair lift to the second floor of the residence.

· A bathroom remodel to provide wheel-chair access to a roll- in shower.

· A wheel-chair accessible van for transportation to doctor appointments and physical therapy appointments.

. Medical Bills that are not covered through the insurance company's small print and stipulations.

. A trained service dog to help with everyday activities

Now our family has come together to ask you for help. Your generous contribution will be used exclusively to provide home modifications, medical equipment, and transportation services that Melissa needs for everyday life.

A Career Cut Short . . . .
A Life Worth Living!
