Paralympic Dream

My name is Damian Orslene, a 28 year veteran of the US Air Force, and a Wounded Warrior. My Bride and I were competitive Triathletes before an explosion in 2007 in Iraq changed our lives forever. What followed has been seven years of hospital visits, multiple operations, adjusting to life with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury and a body with many physical limitations that previously had none. I thought life as I had known it was over and at one point decided to take my own life. Only through God's intervention am I here today. It took time but I rediscovered the healing powers of Sports. I was invited to join the Air Force Wounded Warrior Team, and throw the Seated Shot Putt and Discus. That led to my being discovered by Team USA and my place in the Paralympic Emerging Athlete's Program.  We soon figured out that we're pretty good at this stuff!  Twelve Gold Medals in 2014 with two at the National Championships! We reduced our travel schedule in 2015 to three Track meets; came away with five Gold Medals;  One Silver Medal; repeated as double Champion at Nationals AND set NEW AMERICAN RECORDS in both SHOT PUT AND DISCUS!!!!   What an awesome Season leading to our Olympic Year!!!  

Now it is time to get started on 2016.  Getting ready for the Olympic Trials and Rio is going to take a lot of money.  Professional coaching, training, travel, and three  track meets before Trials  it is going take $15,000.  Please help make our Olympic Dream come true! It has been an amazing journey so far. We have been so blessed to have come so far from those hospital rooms, and the dark despair I felt years ago on my couch.
