Baby Steps Fundraiser-Paisley Skinner

Donation protected
Paisley's story begins not long ago. She was born in May 2013. She is an adorable baby with lots of spirit and a wonderful mother, father and brother (Ashley (Ollom,) Thad and Cooper). She was completely healthy for the first three months and then the scariest thing happened - Her mother, Ashley, was on her way to pick up Paisley when the sitter called to inform her that Paisley had been unresponsive and that CPR had to be performed to revive her. Ashley later found out that Paisley had also had a seizure. Paisley was stable in the ER, but was quickly moved to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Her condition deteriorated and she began having uncontrollable seizures which caused her breathing to greatly decrease or stop. Her parents, grandparents, and friends and family stood by holding their breath. Ashley said "this feels like a nightmare you just cannot shake." Day in and day out, multiple tests were performed with little to no answers. The seizures continued and Paisley had to be sedated, intubated, and fed with a tube. She also had at least two spinal taps/lumbar punctures. An MRI revealed brain injury to the bottom of the brain, a very serious and scary area. This area of the brain can affect mobility, vision, language and much more. Doctors explained that only time will tell the long term effects of this brain injury, especially since Paisley is so young and still growing and developing. Currently, the doctors have Paisley's seizures under control with some very strong medications, but they are still on a mad search for the cause of the brain injury. They do not know whether it was an infection, a metabolic issue, or some other issue. As a result, there is nothing to do but try to control the seizures and wait. Ashley will be monitoring Paisley around the clock and has learned how to handle seizures and administer her medications. Friends, family, and anyone stumbling onto this site: Please help the Skinner family any way you can by donating on this site. Medical bills are racking up and there looks to be no end in sight as they still have not determined the cause of the seizures. Doctors already have them scheduled for extensive future testing. Future expenses for Paisley's care are unknown and, of course, a big stress on the Skinners during this traumatic time. Parents out there: can you imagine watching your little baby go through this? Being intubated right before your eyes? Having uncontrollable seizures in your arms in the hospital with no way to stop them? Let's step up to lift this family up and support them during this unimaginable time.
