Pac Rim Odyssey of the Mind World Finals

One of our very own Pacific Rim Odyssey of the Mind teams won 1st place in the State Tournament earlier this month and is advancing to the World Finals in Iowa at the end of May! While competing locally is relatively inexpensive (the team is actually not allowed to spend over $150 total in props, costumes, etc. and is encouraged to reuse and recycle household items), competing at the state and national/world level becomes very expensive, as travel costs and accommodations add up.
Competing at the World Finals is a 5-day event and will cost over $1,000 per child (and another $1,000 per adult coach/chaperone) plus the cost of shipping all of the props. This is not an easy cost for many families to absorb--especially on such short notice.
This event will provide these children with an amazing opportunity to interact with other children from all over the US and the world.
Any donation amount will help to offset these costs and will be hugely appreciated!
In addition to this GoFundMe site, the team is planning a number of other fundraising efforts including: Friday afternoon popsicle sales, a raffle, a huge garage sale on May 10th, corporate sponsorships and anything else we can think of. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!
What is Odyssey of the Mind?
Odyssey of the Mind is a combination of theater and problem solving with a creative twist. Through the writing of original scripts, the creation of costumes, props, scenery, and technical elements, teams of students work together to produce incredible solutions to creative problems. Students with talents in many areas find a unique opportunity to showcase their gifts in script writing, costume creation, music, dance, visual arts, props and scenery construction, engineering, problem solving, leadership, critical thinking, and more!
