Cancer Treatment for Jim Dasch

Donation protected
Hi All,

I just did an update to thank everyone for there generosity toward Jim's care. Please know how much this meant to he and I. Now that Jim has lost his battle, please consider helping others. If you are able, please consider donating blood or platelets, these sustained Jim in his last year of life. Again, Jim left this world knowing that you all cared so deeply about him.

Thanks,
Amy Dasch (Andrew, Sam and Peter, too)

Dasch has a very rare cancer, so rare, it doesn't make the "rare cancer" list. It has several names, but pheochromocytoma is most accurate. He had a tumor taken out in 2004, but since then, it has spread into the bones of his spine. This is causing severe pain, and if it progresses, he may be paralyzed. In case you are wondering Jim actually leads a very healthy lifestyle, no smoking, exercises regularly and has the occasional beer.

After rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, his next best option is to get "targeted therapy". This means that the drug therapy (think of "keys") is specifically designed to attach to tumors (think of "key holes"). Unfortunately, this type of targeted therapy, also know as PRRT  , is only available in Europe. Unlike here in the states, the treating clinic requires upfront payment before treatment. We are asking for help to reach the goal of getting Jim this much needed therapy.

Jim, his wife Amy and their three sons are facing uncertain times, The PRRT therapy may take 4 separate trips to Basel, Switzerland, the least of their challenges. Thank you very much for your help.

Thank You,
Beth Lieberman and David Greif (sister and brother in law)
