Bread is a short film about about heritage, tradition, and the bond between mothers and daughters. When Jewish teen Ella accidentally tosses her family’s generations-old challah recipe in the trash, she and her mother must work through their differences and create something entirely their own.
This film is written and directed by Ilana Diamant, recent graduate of Ithaca College who is now working at Steeltown Entertainment Project (a non-profit dedicated to supporting and educating young filmmakers)in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Steeltown Entertainment is providing ancillary support for the project, but funding is needed to ensure our cast and crew is fed and paid a fair, equitable wage and cover additional costs such as location fees and equipment rentals."
Why support this film? BREAD will have an all-women cast and crew, a rarity in this industry. Help the booming Pittsburgh film industry and the hardworking women in film! Read here about Jewish filmmaker Zoe Lister-Jones and what made an all-female crew so great and special for her film Band-Aid.
Principal photography is planned for spring 2018.
