As many of you know, on Saturday afternoon, 2nd July 2011, our 7 year old son, Osiris Mwangi Lumanyika, drowned during our family outing to Lone Star Lake in Douglas County, Kansas.

Rescue divers searched for hours between approximately 4pm until long past sundown.  They resumed their search Sunday morning, 3rd July 2011 and finally found him at 8:30am.

We, my wife Rashi and our children, daughter, Zahna and sons, Osiris (R.I.P.) and Aananzi, are thankful to the Douglas County Sheriff\'s office, the rescue divers, and to our family and friends and many strangers that were with us during this extraordinarily difficult and devastating time of searching and waiting.

This loss is deeply painful and more than difficult for any family, yet the overwhelming outpouring of support and comfort and love from all our family, friends, and numerous strangers (parents, children, and well-wishers) have given us much relief and reminded us that in the face of all this great sadness and loss that there is so much good in the world.

Mostly, we have discovered how many lives our son Osiris touched.  He was a happy, healthy, friendly, smart, outgoing kid who was with us for 7 years when doctor\'s first said that we wouldn\'t even have him for 1 day before he was even born,  For this, as much as we are devastated and saddened by his death, we are thankful.

We have decided to hold a memorial service to Celebrate Osiris\' life.  And boy how he lived!  Osiris enjoyed every moment opening us up to a world of experiences that we might not have tried had he not been with us.

The memorial service will be held Sunday, 10th July 2011 at:

Lawrence A. Jones Funeral Chapel
1800 East Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64109-2049

Time: 11am

The re-pass will follow the service and will be located at

Pinkerton Elementary
6409 Agnes Avenue Kansas City, MO 64132-1154.

We have decided to cremate our son and return his ashes to Nairobi, Kenya.  To that end, we are raising funds for Osiris\' final resting place in Kenya (R.I.P.).

The money raised will go towards plane tickets to Kenya for our family of four (Dido, Rashi, Zahna, and Aananzi).

Supporters can also help by finding great travel deals with travel agents, bake sales, and alternate fund raising outlets.

Thank you all,

Dido, Rashi, Zahna, Osiris (R.I.P.), and Aananzi.
