Operation Game Drop

Donation protected
Welcome! This is fundraising page for the inaugural Operation Game Drop charity event being hosted at Misawa Air Base, Japan. My team and I will be hosting a large gaming tournament, with your assistance, that will allow us to support the pediatrics ward at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) -- the oldest continuously operated military hospital that opened its doors in 1830! The more we can raise, the better quality of life we can help provide the military kids undergoing treatment. We want to take some of their stress away so they can spend that energy getting better!

We'd like to give a huge shout out to those of you who have helped out so far. Whether it is just giving $5, or even liking our page so we can get the word out more, every little bit does help.

For those of you who have donated (or were considering) and wondered what your money was going to go towards, here's the deal. Out of the $2,000 we're looking to raise, a small portion of that will be used to host a charity gaming tournament at Misawa Air Base in Japan. Gaming is huge among our men and women in uniform overseas, so we are confident that we'll see a much larger return on our investment than we put into it.

We will take the proceeds from the tournament, and funnel them back into the rest of the $2,000 raised and use it to purchase Nintendo Wii/Wii U systems, and also some DS game systems, and pre-load some games on to them. After all the systems are loaded and ready to go, we'll take them to NMCP, drop them off, and let the kids bash Koopas until their heart's content.

The great thing about GoFundMe is if we surpass $2,000, it doesn't refuse donations because we've already met our goals. So, should we go past our goal, it will allow us to buy more than we had intended, possibly expanding into buying some stuff like the Disney Infinity games/figures.

Thank you all SO MUCH for helping us make NMCP an even BETTER place for our military children!!

Testimonials about the power of video games in hospitals can be found at http://www.childsplaycharity.org/testimonials. It explains why we do what we do!

"She’s only 7 years old and is facing death every day. Something as simple as a game brought her so much joy, and she got to feel like a regular child again, if only for an hour."
