Operation-Sydney

Sydney came to Valley Mastiff Rescue through some very unfortunate circumstances. She came to us on July 25th 2013 emaciated at barely 90 pounds, weak and frail and her starving body could barely hold her up for more than a few minutes. On the body condition index she is a 1/5. Sydney is a victim of horrible neglect. She was unable to be provided with the important and necessary medical care she so desperately needed. Although she is no longer in the previous situation, she is in need of many surgeries and much more help to be to where she should be. Sydney is facing a long road ahead before she is pain free and can become a dog again. She survived horrid living conditions and atrocious neglect without ever knowing the meaning of love and managed to adapt and survive. We wonder how she survived; the pain Sydney suffered is a tragedy in itself. All Sydney has known is pain, agony and misery.
We begin Operation-Sydney. We are turning to you for help. We have faith that together we can and will help Sydney. We will provide her with the surgeries, care and love she needs.Operation Sydney is about her journey but also a fundraising campaign to raise the $2500.00 for the first of 3 surgeries she so desperately needs. It is called arthroplasty. The surgeons will cut the head of her femur bone to alleviate the excruciating pain Sydney has to deal with every day. She will be cared for at the DMV animal hospital in Lachine Qc under the caring hands of Dr. Madore. Sydney's recovery from this surgery will be 2 months. The second surgery is for her front leg, it is called radial wedge and ulnar ostectomy. She will have a steel external fixation for 4 months. The costs are estimated at $4500.00 Then the last surgery is a complete hip replacement cost estimated at $5500.00.
