Omaha United for Youth is in the process of coordinating a Back to School Bash! This is a free community event scheduled for August 14, 2016 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at the Benson Park & Pavilion. Our goal is to ensure our children have every academic advantage necessary to excel in the classroom for the upcoming school year.
Education is likely the single most effective path out of poverty. Sadly, one of the most common areas affected by families living in poverty is educational performance. Did you know 23% of residents in Omaha are living below the federal poverty line? By the end of third grade these students are, on average, already two years behind their peers in reading and math. When children start out with that large of a deficit, their ability to succeed in school diminishes. All too often they fall further and further behind their peers.
This is why Omaha is Uniting for our Youth! As a new school year approaches, we aim to close the educational gap for underserved K – 12 students. Our children need our help. With your donation we hope to serve 1,000 children by providing FREE school supplies, clothing, haircuts, and healthcare services in a fun family friendly environment. Will you join us in our endeavor to break the cycle of poverty and invest in Omaha United for Youth's Back to School Bash?
