Support for Oly

A few months ago, my best friend Oly was diagnosed with a very rare tumor of the abdominal muscle. Approximately, 900 people a year are diagnosed with this type of tumor. It's called a desmoid tumor and there is no set cure for it. It has unfortunately not responded to any medicine. It has tripled in size in a short time and a radical excision with a full abdominal wall reconstruction is the the only way to go. After being turned down by several surgeons because of the complexity, she is finally under the care of three excellent surgeons in University Cancer Center in Albuquerque. She will be undergoing a 10 hour surgery in a few weeks where they will completely remove her left abdominal muscle and replace it with the muscle and skin from her leg and biomesh. This is a life-altering surgery and her recovery will be very long and difficult. But we will be fighting right alongside her. Chase and Oly are two of the most selfless people I've ever met. They left a great paying job to move back to New Mexico to help out during his grandfather's last days. They have been a voice of wisdom and helping hand to so many. Even while all this is going on, they continue to help others. With the help of their church, they launched a free closet where members of the community can go and receive clothing and shoes at no cost. They have given away over 2,000 items in 3 months. I know the stories could go on and on of all the ways they've helped people. She is the first many of us call because we know she will always help. Oly is a great friend, a loyal sister and a ray of sunshine, but more than anything, she is driven and a fighter. And now they need OUR help.
