Laps for Learning

Donation protected
Dear friend,

Olivet Baptist Church will host its fourth Laps for Learning fundraiser on April 24 (5:00-7:00pm at Hunting Park . As part of this fun event, we will be challenging the youth who participate in the Olivet Baptist Tutoring & Youth Enrichment Program, our tutors, and adult supporters to complete as many laps as possible on a regulation track within one hour. With a message of health and wellness, Laps for Learning aims to raise much-needed funds to improve  the area of the church that is used to host our youth programs, as well as provide resources and supplies for the programs we offer. Our fundraising goal this year is $2000. We're asking for your support!

About the Olivet Baptist Church Tutoring & Youth Enrichment Program
Olivet Baptist Church seeks to help others help themselves!!! The Tutoring & Youth Enrichment Program is facilitated by church staff, professional tutors, and tutors from Saint Joseph’s University. The program assists children who are members of the church and the Logan community in embracing and conquering academic challenges, as well as in developing the social skills required to be positive and successful members of the community.

In the summer months, our tutoring program transitions into a youth enrichment program, and the children are exposed to areas of the city that present history, culture,  and learning opportunities, such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Franklin Institute, and the Morris Arboretum ... just to name a few.

Olivet Baptist Church strives to encourage and enlighten children to allow them to bear witness that they have potential to accomplish all the goals that they set for themselves and shed light on the possibility that having goals is good because many of our children feel hopeless due to the social "isms" that exist in the area in which they live. Social "isms," such as gun violence and drug trafficking, hinder the potential success of a multitude of children, and Olivet Baptist Church stands as a beacon of hope and a safe haven for the children of the Logan community.

Since its inception in 2008, the Olivet Baptist Church Tutoring & Youth Enrichment Program has enabled:
* More than 650 hours of programming;
* More than 3,500 volunteers hours served; and
* More than 5,000 youth enrichment hours to children in one of the city's most at-risk neighborhoods.

Can we count on your support? No donation is too small. All donations are 501(c)(3) tax deductible (45-3457323)
