Oliverian's Relief Efforts in Honduras

Donation protected
On May 3, a group of ten Oliverian School community members (8 students, 2 faculty) will embark on a service trip to Choluteca, the southernmost region of Honduras. In conjunction with the C.A.R.E. organization, we will host medical clinics and help to build schools that will benefit the lives of those living in this rural area. In addition to the service we'll be providing in-person, we've decided to aim for an even greater impact by raising funds to be donated to the cause of our choosing. Depending on the funds we're able to raise, we'd like to either fund a self-sustaining pharmacy to benefit the community for years to come (price point $1,700) or to fund an "Oliverian School" classroom in a new schoolhouse being built in the community of Javier Sorano (price point $4 - $5,000). Any amount you and those you know can contribute will be greatly appreciated. And the impact of your contribution will be stronger than you'll ever realize.

Please read the words below from Alex Dewart, an Oliverian senior with a clear understanding of the nature of our mission:

"I've been to Costa Rica before and I know how important it is to see countries unlike America. We get to see first hand how blessed we are to live in America and how what seems like so little to us can mean a world of difference to someone who has less than we do. When in Honduras, we will be doing community service, putting on a medical clinic and helping to build schools in the rural region of Choluteca. In the US we have insurance and ways to get medicine when needed, but what many don't realize is that even things like Ibuprofen are precious in these regions. Being around people who are in need and very humble gives you the urge to give and be very thankful for what we have. My classmates and I are very excited to go on this experience of a lifetime. I hope you see the importance of this trip and wish us luck as we venture to Honduras to help a fellow people who really need and will benefit from what we can give them."
