Officer Krystal Scott is an Officer for the Western Illinois University Police Department, in Macomb Illinois.

In December of 2016, Krystal was given the news that she had cancer, but she wouldn't know the severity of it until a month later after her surgery...Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

Recovering from surgery was the first battle, followed by 6 months of chemotherapy which all greatly affected her day-to-day life.  She was unable to continue serving & protecting as a police officer - something that affected her in many ways.  Besides her role as an officer, she is also a single mother of her beautiful 12 year-old daughter.

Fast forward to November 2017…Krystal received some positive news from her doctor.   All of her follow-up tests looked great...her cancer was in remission.  Great news; however, the doctor told her the cancer would come back, he just could not say when.

Krystal was overjoyed to be able to return to work just before Thanksgiving.  She had a routine again, something to take her mind off all that she had already been through and most importantly, she was back to earning a full paycheck...a major stress reliever to say the least!  However, two months later she things quickly changed.

In January 2018, Krystal began having stomach symptoms.  On February 1, she was taken by ambulance and was admitted to the hospital where she found out there was a lot of fluid in her abdomen, and a large mass and a spot on her liver.  Krystal got the news she hadn’t anticipated to hear so soon after completing her initial treatments…. the cancer had returned and spread.

She went through another surgery, in which the doctor removed an approximate 12cm x 8cm mass.  The doctors have told her the mass & spot on her liver are all related to the initial diagnosis of colon cancer, which has just continued to spread.

At the present time, Krystal is recovering from surgery and unable to work.

Through everything Krystal has not once asked for all help as she is very humble.   Though we are unable to cure her of cancer, we are able to provide support, through prayers & with financial assistance.

Sometimes the police need help, and this is one of those moments.  Please help support Officer Krystal Scott.

Please note: Funds will not be withdrawn directly by Krystal Scott.  Instead, the funds will be withdrawn by Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command Class #428 Treasurer Cameron Brown.  Cameron is a student in class in charge of all money we raise for Krystal for this campaign and others.  Money will go through his bank account linked to GoFundMe and he will write the check.  A photo of the check will be added to this page as well as pictures of Krystal accepting it at graduation on May 11, 2018.  I just wanted to add that information in here so people can be assured Krystal WILL get the money minus whatever GoFundMe charges for using their services.
