Donation protected
This fund is in support of Maquiladora workers in Cd. Juarez who were fired from Lexmark. Our goal is to support 75 workers for the next fifteen days @ $115 USD each = $8,625 ($115 USD each constitutes their Christmas 15-day pay that Lexmark denied them because they moved to form a union). Please help support a Maquiladora worker in their time of need. The situation is dire.
Workers were fired because they requested: (1) a raise in their wages by 6 pesos of .35 cents; (2) they expressed their legal right to form a union; and (3) they want an end to sexual harassment in the workplace. They also want to be reinstated.
With no job, they have no income to support their families. And because they earn so little, they have no savings.
Since November 2, 2015, workers have set up a camp (in Spanish, a plantón) outside the Lexmark plant and are there on a 24 hour/7-day basis. Funds will be donated directly to the Lexmark Maquiladora workers in Cd. Juarez who have petitioned to have their union recognized. Thank you for considering making donation to this effort!

Juarez, on December 23, 2015, the International Labor Rights Forum (ILFR), a Washington, DC-based human rights and labor rights organization sent a letter to Paul Rooke, Lexmark CEO, asking for a resolution on the issues associated with the workers by the end of the year: http://www.laborrights.org/
