Flat Earth Oregon is gathering funds for a DIGITAL BILLBOARD ON I-5! This is an exciting project that is designed to propel flat earth into the local, national, and international media.
The billboard will be up for FOUR weeks beginning AUGUST 18TH, 2017. (Note: The image above is not the actual image or text for the billboard. We will be uploading the actual billboard images/text to this page soon!)
WHAT IS "Flat Earth Oregon"?
Flat Earth Oregon (FEO) is a recently founded group that meets regularly in Portland and works towards edcuating the general public about our flat and stationary home we call Earth.
Our website is currently under construction. The website will be a "portal" of information about flat earth. It will provide guidance for people interested in learning more about flat earth.
The Flat Earth Oregon website address will be featured on the billboard images. This strategy will encourage viewers of the billboard to go to the FEO website and find easy access to educational videos, websites, research groups, books, maps and documents, local meet-ups, and much more.
Extensive links will be organized into catagories, to get people started researching flat earth.
The plan is to have a basic website up with links as the billboard goes live. Then, we can work to build up the website over time.
WHAT WILL THE BILLBOARD SAY? WHAT IS THE MESSAGE?
We are very excited about this part! The great news is we are able to create more than one digital billboard sign -- at the same cost as if we created one sign! We are planning on doing four billboard signs.
This is a great deal! We have decided to create four different messages to rotate through. Every 48 seconds one of our signs will cycle through (among other ads, as this is a digital billboard).
Each of our signs will show for 8 seconds at a time. All four messages will be shown during the entire four weeks, 24/7.
Each message will focus on a different flat earth theme. As an example, one sign will focus on the fact that "water always finds its level" and will include images and text that illustrate that flat earth proof.
The actual designs are still under contruction and will be posted here as we create them. We have a professional graphic designer in our group helping us!
WHERE WILL THE BILLBOARD BE LOCATED?
The billboard location is NORTHBOUND, ON I - 5, NEAR THE PORTLAND RD EXIT, just as you are leaving Salem. It is a highly visible location and the signs should create a buzz here in Oregon and around the world.
One reason we are sure this billboard will be highly effective is because Salem is directly in the path of the upcoming solar eclipse!!!
WHAT DOES THE SOLAR ECLIPSE HAVE TO DO WITH FLAT EARTH?
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit the area to see the eclipse. Salem is directly in the "path of totality".
The eclipse occurs on August 21st. The billboard will begin displaying on August 18th and will display for one month. (One of the signs will focus on the topic of the eclipse.)
The general public will be inundated with information about the our earth, sun, moon, and all related topics and our billboard will attract attention during a time of hieghtened awareness of the cosmos in general.
Most people will be contemplating and discussing the nature of earth, the sun, the moon, and the stars --- and, because of us, flat earth!
Our billboard will encourage them to "look into" flat earth and each sign will be designed with images and text that will spark new neuronal pathways and get people thinking!
HOW LONG WILL THE BILLBOARD BE UP? HOW MANY VIEWERS WILL SEE IT?
The billboard will run from August 18th through September 14th, at total of 28 days. It is a digital billboard and will run 24/7. Each image will show for 8 seconds, on a 48 second rotation cycle.
For those not familiar with Oregon, I-5 is the major interstate highway that connects the states of Washington, Oregon, and California. An enormous amount of people will be driving by the billboard.
ARE THERE OTHER FLAT EARTH BILLBOARDS?
Yes! There are billboards that have already gone up in several states, and many others are in the works. Flat earth is a very fast growing, truly grassroots movement. Billboards are an effective tool.
WHAT GOOD WILL THIS BILLBOARD DO?
This billboard is a great investment because it is going to jumpstart a lot of people into action --- including the mainstream media who would otherwise never cover flat earth!
This will "force" the topic of flat earth into the local, national, and international media. They will not be able to ignore the buzz! A huge amount of media from all over the world will be here in Oregon to cover the eclipse.
Also, we will also be using photos and video of the billboards to create a SOCIAL MEDIA buzz. This will create an avalanche effect which will last well past the four weeks the billboard will be up!
This is about much more than a billboard. This will lead to many future projects, many of which we can't even imagine yet!

{Note: For those who follow flat earth happenings closely online, here is a more detailed backstory of how this project has evolved over the last couple of months. You may remember that the original plan for this Oregon billboard was hatched in early June. At that time full funding was pledged by a single individual, and this was announced, as the funds were deemed secure. A date was set for August 7th. This individual decided to pull out, however. The billboard broker was never actually paid, there was no refund needed, but the project was stalled as we considered various ways to fund it as a group effort. The project never "died" -- just the timing and strategy for fundraising was changed! As often happens, this turn of events was actually fortunate because now Flat Earth Oregon has been founded and we can gather funds from many individuals through gofundme.com. This is now more of a group effort and we are getting support from many individuals -- like you! So, we changed the date to AUGUST 18TH and we are confident we can get funding in time to put this plan into action. This doesn't give us much time! However, many people are very excited about this project and we are confident we can raise the funds in time to pay the broker. 100% of the $1,500 dollars is going directly to the cost of the billboard.
