Burning
Oak Theatre company is currently producing Novemberunderground, a piece of new
writing by Royal Court Young Writer Thomas Clancy. After it's first showing at
Rose Bruford College, Novemberunderground transferred to a one-night sell out
show at the Soho Theatre.
With such a great script to work with, and a hugely talented cast, we want to develop this production, and take it to the next stage.
With this ambitious aim come obstacles. Predominantly financial ones.
With your kind and generous support, you could make Burning Oak's ambition of producing this fantastic and innovative piece of Theatre become reality. From £1-£1,000 any donation would help tremendously.

We have recently confirmed our venue, the Big Belly "“ Underbelly at Edinburgh Fringe for August 2013, we have also secured two preview venues. Our future intention is to do a run in a top London Fringe venue in December 2013.

The Play
Originally developed as part of The Royal Court's Studio Group, Novemberunderground is an unnerving and highly distinctive play exploring identity and communication in a world where you can express all your opinions with a semi-colon and a bracket. It tells the story of eight very different people in a not too distant future. A dangerous new world in which iPods have gone the way of the cassette tape, candles flicker in perfectly timed electronic bursts and cheesecake is just as fantastic as it is now. An exhilarating, funny, must see piece of theatre.

The Company
Burning Oak is first of all a collective. Driving its work is an energy that derives from a mutual sense of purpose. A purpose rooted in a passion for the theatre.
While as a company we recognize that the group always contains a greater power than does the sum of its parts, we would also emphasize the centrality of the actor as the sine qua non of the theatre event.
Burning Oak was conceived as a company where young actors, reaching the end of their training, could continue to develop their craft - a company that acts as a bridge between the conservatoire/laboratory and the professional theatre.
Our intention is to discover, develop and present new work, by new young writers, with a core company of new young actors "“ to take what is raw and fresh and give it shape and form.
The environment in which we develop our work, often over an extended period of time, is one where actors and writers can explore, experiment and create with complete freedom.
We value bravery, mutual trust, honesty and a willingness to risk what Eleanora Duse described as "˜the revelation of the soul'.
We take stories of contemporary relevance out of the school and into the world, to audiences some of whom we hope are as new, raw and passionate as us!
