Nora's Network was created in the Fall of 2010 with the mission to purchase and provide iPads and supporting equipment to the CONNECT or Autism classrooms in District 279. Over the course of the first 3 years, with the support of friends, family, and special education staff, we raised enough money to provide iPads for 13 classrooms! Thankfully in the Summer of 2014 the school district was able to buy iPads for the rest of the classrooms! Hooray!
Over the past 3 years Nora's Network has also hosted an event called Winter Wonderland for families living with Autism. This event gives them a chance to enjoy time honored holiday traditions, like visiting with Santa and making crafts, in a sensory friendly environment.
We're adding a few more events this year too! We have a movie night planned, a swimming event in the works, and a Winter trip to a swingset showroom on the calendar too! We know these events will make a great difference in the lives of kids with Autism living in our community and we can't wait to see all of their happy faces!
This Winter we will be hosting our 3rd annual Bergie's Bash on January 18th. This will be our final fundraiser for the 2014/15 school year. It's an event that celebrates the siblings of children living with Autism. We have a kid friendly DJ, a photo booth, and lots of dancing and snacks! Nora has learned to love this event, even though it's a bit loud! Last year, she loved the photo booth!
