Since September of 2014 when Nora Thornton was diagnosed with Breast Cancer she has had chemo therapy and 7 surgical procedures in the last 4 years. Her health has never fully returned and she has had a host of physical ailments and then was wiped out earlier this year with Epstein Barr Virus.
In July this year Nora Thornton was hospitalized for 8 days with stroke like symptoms and extreme low blood pressure. A team of 6 doctors and 8 days later they could not find the cause and only stabilized her to be discharged. (Cost over $200,000) Nora had to take off work and work half days to get her strength back up before she went back to full days. In August we went to the follow up with her doctor and her doctor said she has seen Nora getting worse for the last three years. The Doctor is hypothesizing that the problem maybe Neurological or auto regulatory. Her doctor wanted to send her somewhere that specialized in difficult cases. She wanted to send Nora to the Mayo Clinic. After phone interviews and a conference call with her doctor the Mayo Clinic accepted her case. Her appointment in Rochester Minnesota is on October 22 at 6:45AM. She will be seen as outpatient for 3 to 8 days depending on their finding and if they can do anything.
This is where you come in. After all the medical bills and other associated expenses from lost pay and time off, we have depleted our resources. This trip to Mayo Clinic will cost us about $3,600 for gas, food, and lodging. Mayo Clinic and Insurance does not help with these cost. Then there are the medical bills that insurance won’t pay and follow up visits.
