Heart Lake Records Label Fundraiser

Hello! My name is Ayo Leilani and I am the Co-owner and Co-CEO of Canadian indie label Heart Lake Records.

Heart Lake Records is an Ontario based, queer women-owned and operated, independent record label. As a community focused organization our mission is to provide funding, project management, distribution and mentorship while developing 2SQTBIPOC women, non-binary, gender nonconforming artists and allies creating Hip Hop, RnB and Soul music. Our goal is to challenge and transform the outdated views that surround urban arts and music culture in Canada, while amplifying the voices of talented, yet underrepresented and marginalized creatives

It’s no secret that the Canadian music industry has been dragging their feet when it comes to the proper support and infrastructure needed for the rapidly growing Hip-Hop and RnB scenes within the country. The sort of change that is needed is MASSIVE, and won’t be fixed by one label alone, but our hope is to be able to give a platform to as many voices as we can, creating a ripple in the pond.

We have started this GoFundMe  with hopes to raise $50,000. The money raised will  provide up to 10 2SQTBIPOC women,  non-binary, gender nonconforming artists and allies, creating Hip Hop, RnB and Soul music with $3000-$5000 to put towards:

- recording, mixing and mastering
- producer and guest artist fees
- press pictures
- social media campaign
- music video for the lead single
- merchandise.

Heart Lake Records will be providing distribution, project management, grant writing sessions and 6 weeks of virtual video mentorship with industry members to help with everything from everyday admin to how to get your music synced.  Artists will have the opportunity to learn through the proper steps of a release while having their ideas and talents affirmed and trusted.

As an independent label we will use our networks to provide these artists with all of our resources and contacts.

No more gatekeepers.
